Four score and seven years

A little background into our journey of starting a family......after we got married 6 years ago we decided to let nature take it's course and when it was time to have kids, it would just happen.  Little did I know that nature's course (and God's timing) would be nothing that Mike and I could have imagined.

A month after we got back from our honeymoon we found out we were expecting.  I was so excited, that we didn't wait the typical 3 months to start telling people.  Then a month later, I found out why it wasn't such a bad idea to wait.  We lost our first prgenancy in August of 2007.  Within the next year, we would lose 3 more pregnancies.  At that time we decided to see a new OB doctor.  With the new doctor we got pregnant for a 5th time and I was put on progesterone.  This didn't do the trick and our doctor recommended a pregnancy loss specialist at University of Illinois.  We saw her through another 3 losses and decided to get a second opinion at Fertility Centers of Illionis.  After another full round of tests, it was recommended that we try IUI (intrauterine insemination) or IVF (in vitro fertilization).  Due to expense, we tried IUI and when that didn't work, I told Mike I needed a break emotionally.

The silver lining, I believe is it brought Mike and I closer together through each loss. The break we decided to take through the end of the year, we would find out would end sooner than we had planned.
